After surviving an aggressive bone cancer and a life-altering surgery, windsurfing enthusiast Weronika Lato faces a reality in which even walking is uncertain. Returning to the ocean — let alone stepping back onto a board, feels almost unreachable.
Created without external funding and produced entirely on personal commitment, the film shifts its focus away from performance and achievement. Instead, it explores vulnerability, mental resilience, and the fragile process of rebuilding trust in one’s own body. Reborn on Water is a deeply personal short film about imperfection, recovery, and the quiet strength found in returning to what once gave life meaning.
